Archbishop Kelly Visits All Hallows

Archbishop Patrick Kelly visited us on Friday 19th November as a part of his pastoral visit to the Penwortham/Leyland areas. It was a happy coincidence that Archbishop Patrick joined us on a day when we celebrate the achievements of our pupils in the previous school year. Mr Steve Pegg, Principal of Cardinal Newman College, Preston, also came along to the Upper School Achievements Assembly and Mrs A Bleasdale, Headteacher of St Teresa’s RC Primary School, Penwortham presented the prizes in the Lower School gathering. Pupils received certificates for academic progress, 100% attendance and overall contribution to the form and the year group. Form and year group prize winners then had their photograph taken with the Archbishop. Our Head Boy and Girl and their Deputies delivered formal votes of thanks to our guests and presented them with small gifts as tokens of appreciation. Archbishop Patrick addressed the staff at break time and the morning concluded with a buffet for staff, Governors and pupil representatives. We wrote to Archbishop Patrick thanking him for making the day so special and for visiting All Hallows personally.

Certificate Evening For Year 11 - 2010

Our former Deputy Headteacher Mr Lancaster, now Headteacher at Christ the King Catholic High School in Southport, returned to present the certificates and prizes to last year’s leavers at our annual celebration in November. This evening provided us with an opportunity to congratulate our leavers on their record-breaking GCSE results. Over 89% of them left All Hallows with 5+A*-C grade passes, 78% of which included English and Mathematics. Mr Lancaster joined us having just come through the ‘joys’ of an OFSTED inspection at his new school and we congratulate him on that successful outcome.

FAREWELL

Farewell and good luck to our Head of Mathematics Mr McFarlane, who joins Holy Cross Catholic High School, Chorley in January as Deputy Headteacher. Mr McFarlane has made a huge contribution to our school and we will miss his many talents (including his superb acting ability and badminton skills) as well as his real sense of fun. Good luck also to Miss Thornton, who takes over as Head of Mathematics at All Hallows in January.
