Year 9 Trip to Paris

In October 2008, the Design & Technology department led a trip to Paris with 40 year 9 pupils.

The trip was designed to enrich and enhance students knowledge of Technology in the beautiful setting of this famous city. It was hoped that as well as appreciating the fantastic structures such as the Eiffel tower, students could also enjoy new technologies at the Science and technology museum.

The trip was not all work however as on the penultimate day we all visited Disneyland and had the chance to enjoy the attractions it had to offer.

The trip was thoroughly enjoyed by staff and students alike and will hopefully be run again in the future.

Year 8 Trip to London

In July 2010, we ran a trip to London with 32 year 8 students.

The trip aimed to highlight Design & Technology in our capital as well as having lots of fun along the way!

The first evening we visited the superbly designed IMAX cinema to watch Shrek 3D. We all sported our trendy 3D glasses and were treated to a fantastic film as well as learning about how the IMAX screen works.

Day 2 involved an action packed day where students were set design tasks to complete in the V&A museum and the Design museum. Despite the temperature being in the 30's, all students completed the tasks and learned about design in the past, present and future.

After freshening up at the hotel, we went to Pizza Hut for tea and then to the West End to watch, 'Wicked'. All agreed it was a really enjoyable evening despite the show being halted part way through because of a 'wardrobe' malfunction!

The final treat on this action packed weekend was a 4D experience at the London eye where we again put on our 3D glasses for an interactive flight across the London landmarks. The only difference this time was that the 4D experience included being splashed with bubbles and water as well as smells permeating around us. It was a great introduction to the ride on the eye that followed.
